On Friday 2 October 2026, the Koutavos Environmental Information Centre hosted the environmental art workshop "We Are Nature" for teachers of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Kefalonia.
The workshop was part of the 4th International Arts & Environment Festival "We Are Nature" and was led by environmental artist Dr. Pierre Leichner.
Participants created collages using natural and everyday materials such as leaves, pine needles, sand, soil, flowers, paint and recycled items. This sparked a creative conversation about our connection with the landscape, the sea and the land of Kefalonia
Art helps us see nature with fresh eyes and bring that experience into the classroom
Co-organised by the Directorate of Secondary Education of Kefalonia (Geopark Kefalonia & Ithaca thematic network), the School Activities Coordinators & E.K.F.E. (Laboratory Centre for Physical Sciences), the PE04 Education Advisor, Kefalonia–Ithaca UNESCO Global Geopark and the Ionion Center for the Arts and Culture.
